By also providing comprehensive emergency medical services on top of our fire and rescue services, we can ensure continuity of care and provide timely care to patients when they need it most. We demonstrate our commitment to providing the residents of St. Louis County with first-class EMS by providing our teams with consistent training and cutting-edge healthcare equipment—delivering dependable, life-saving care when and where it matters.

Does Creve Coeur Fire Protection District Provide EMS?

Yes, the Creve Coeur Fire Protection District provides our community with reliable, professional emergency medical services (EMS), just as it has since 1975. Offering advanced life support to our residents made the District the first licensed fire-based paramedic service in the state of Missouri. Our EMS program began with only 6 state-licensed paramedics and 1 advanced life support vehicle, which changed in January 1979 when we added 6 licensed paramedics and a second advanced life support vehicle to the District.

Currently, the District employs 55 highly trained, licensed paramedics and 1 EMTs. It staffs 3 full-time advanced life support vehicles twenty-four hours, seven days a week. All ladder, engine, and rescue companies are equipped with advanced life support equipment and staffed with licensed paramedics.

The Creve Coeur Fire Protection District makes every effort to meet the requests of the patients it transports. The District transports to all the major hospital systems in the St. Louis region while keeping its ambulances within the boundaries of the District to minimize out-of-service time. However, if the patient’s condition warrants a specialty hospital, then our professionally trained staff will suggest a hospital that can better address the patient’s needs. In the event of icy or snow-covered roadways presenting a safety issue or lengthy transport delays, it may become necessary to transport patients to a closer medical facility.
